EN1320: Module 2 Shaping Ideas Lab 2.1 Creating an Outline 1 Outlines are helpful tools to utilize in the writing process in order to begin to effectively organize ideas. After brainstorming, creating an outline allows you to map out your ideas to use during the drafting process. Outlines use the ideas from brainstorming to create a pattern in order to fully develop a genre and organize ideas to draft an effective essay or other document. In this lab, you will complete the following:  Create a keyword outline from a concept map. Using the concept map developed in Module 1 (or after creating a concept map based on a choice you have made that has impacted your life in some way).  Start with a creative title and then develop the outline to detail major sections (main points), including the introduction and conclusion, and supporting details.  Create a keyword outline as the next step in the writing process.  Develop the outline with an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion (five numerals). Submission Requirements: Submit your outline in a Microsoft Word document with the following specifications:  Font: Arial, 12-point  Spacing: Double  Style: APA format with a title page and a header  Length: 300 words (excluding the title page) Note: You will have two attempts to work on this assessment. The instructor will issue a grade on the first draft submission of the concept map and outline. After receiving comments and feedback from your instructor, you have the option to revise the outline and submit it for regrading. If a second attempt is not submitted, the grade for the first attempt will be scored as the final grade for the assessment. EN1320: Module 2 Shaping Ideas Lab 2.1 Creating an Outline 2 Evaluation Criteria: Your submission will be evaluated against the following criteria using the lab rubric:  Did you create the outline using a concept map?  Does the outline clearly separate major sections?  Did you identify the five sections: introduction, three separate main points, and conclusion?  Did you include two supporting details for each main point in the outline?  Did you use appropriate formatting tools to create the outline?  Did you include a creative title?  Does your submission adhere to the word count and formatting requirements?
