You might be saying to yourself, “I theoretically understand the importance of academic integrity and know what plagiarism means, but how can I put into practice what I have learned? How can I be sure that I won’t inadvertently commit plagiarism in the future?” This week, you will get the practical, hands-on experience that will develop your expertise in avoiding plagiarism.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this week, you should be able to:

-Recognize situations that may result in plagiarism
-Identify strategies to use to avoid plagiarism
-Directly quote an author’s statement with a correct in-text citation

Discussion 2 – Week 2COLLAPSE
Direct Quote and In-text Citations

Quoting a source provides credibility to your writing and shows that your analysis is reasonable based on the evidence. For this Discussion, you will write a short paragraph incorporating a direct quote and in-text citation.

To prepare for this Discussion:

-Review the APA manual and the Learning Resources related to citing direct quotes.

-Read the article “Notes on Plagiarism: Did I Do It? “.Reflect on what the message of the article is and on the importance of correctly attributing another’s ideas.

-In your post, you must use one direct quote (the exact words of the author) and cite the quote correctly in your paragraph to support your view.

-Remember that there is more than one way to cite a direct quote.

-Consider the ways that you can integrate a direct quote into your sentence. With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 5 1- to 2- paragraphs that reflect the importance of correctly using in-text citations and acknowledging when ideas are not your own. To support your view, use a least one direct quote from the article with a correct in-text citation and the quote must be fewer than 40 words. Remember to provide a reference list for any source(s) you rely on for this assignment.
