week 2 assignment 2 Psychobiography: Reflection on Humanistic Theories
week 2 assignment 2 Psychobiography: Reflection on Humanistic Theories
Maslow, Rogers, and other humanistic theorists rejected key elements of psychoanalytic theory. They rejected the notion that humans are motivated in life by factors like cravings and unsatisfied needs generated from primitive libidos. Additionally, they rejected theories that proposed that humans are merely beings who react to stimuli to gain reward and avoid punishment. This difference is the fundamental feature of humanistic theory. According to humanistic theory, humans are more oriented toward positive goals that satisfy complex social and spiritual needs that benefit humankind. In humanistic theory, the individual is more than just an impulse-driven entity. In this Assignment, you will reflect on humanistic theories and their applicability in explaining human behavior.
To prepare, review this week’s Learning Resources on humanistic theories. Think about how you would apply these theories in your personal and professional life.
By Day 7 submit a 2- to 3-page APA-formatted reflection paper that addresses the following:
- Explain any insights you gained about humanistic theories.
- Explain how the application of these theories might help you understand yourself and your personal and professional relationships.
- Include a paragraph indicating whether you find humanistic theories more effective than psychoanalytic theories for explaining human behavior.
Remember that this is a personal reflection, but it still needs to demonstrate your understanding of the week’s topics. Be specific, and provide examples.
Support your ideas with the Learning Resources and the current literature.
