For example, intelligence, talent, and motivation to succeed driven by environmental influencers can be subverted by personality flaws, such as an obsessive need for approval and recognition. Conversely, a strong drive to succeed and make a difference can be enhanced by personality strengths, such as compassion and sympathy for the disenfranchised. Cognitive theories underscore this “function of both thinking and behavior” reinforced by the influence of external events and relationships. In this Assignment, you will reflect on cognitive theories and their applicability in explaining human behavior.
